Fraud or Suspicious Advertisements - Please inform us!

Postby TheEditor on Mon Nov 14, 2005 12:51 am

We at Autodealer are trying to tackle the issue of some people posting Fraud advertisements to be able to lure innocent people into sending them money.

At Autodealer, we do not take any liability or responsibility of the advertisements (as dictacted by our Terms of Service), but we want to make sure that nevertheless no one gets harmed and that we, the honest community, win over those who live on dishonesty and fraud.

PLEASE inform us about any advertisements you find suspicious. We are not able to go over each and every advertisement posted, hence, we require the community to help out here. Thanks!

I have just seen an Advert for a "chevrolet SS" gold or tiger in color, asking 20,000Dhs. This car is allegedly in or from the UK BUT the photos look to be taken in Australia, according to the other cars and number plates in the back-ground, as well as the Holden or Chev' badges hidden. I think this one is a bit smelly!

Did you try calling? There seems to be a UAE number with it.

What did the person say? Did he want money upfront?

He said it belongs to his boss and that the photos were taken in the UK, coz he shipped the car there and now brought it back so he could sell it! Who in there right mind would take a lumina to the UK and back!? No matter, he insists the car is in RAK and it can be viewed any time. By the way, it has 190,000klms not 20,000klms as advertised. With 20K's it's worth the drive but not 190!

It probably is but to my knowledge those early 5.7 engines were generally shagged at approx' 150K's so there would need to be plenty of receipts to go with it. I think i can find enough trouble here in Dubai without going to RAK for it! :)

VERY IMPORTNANT (FAKE WEBSITE)

Postby The Protector on Sun Aug 10, 2008 10:43 am

Dear All,
There are some thieves use this website and other websites, they post ADs about vehicles which is of very low price, when you contact then they tell you that they are out of country for any reason and they want to sell the car fast, and they say that they can complete the transaction using a website of a company using e bay, this company is totally fake and it is used only to theft people.
this is the website that they use: http://www.i-sold-it.co.uk/
DONT EVER MAKE A DEAL USING THIS WEBSITE.
you can simply find that this is a fake website, you just copy this website and past it on google and search, and you will find that this is a fake (totally scam).
Regards,
The Protector

Yeah, its actually quite hilarious to email these buggers and see what they come up with.
One guy said he is a Surgeon at a hospital in London and cannot take my calls as he is always in emergency. "Just send me money to my Western Union account" to show me that you are serious is what he would write. Yeah, right!

I had ordered one and paid , but firm didnt ship a car/or any documentation about deal .

I attempted to contact with firm many times , but it didnt response to any of our notifications about contract binding etc.

Could YOU please suggest any futrher actions for us in this case ? To what organizations we need to appeal to sue this firm and return money ?

Many thanks in advance

Guys Good Evening!

I'd like to know if is ok to accept payment for a vehicle via paypal.

There is guy from abroad interested on buying my bike.

I think is a bit strange, because the limit for Montly Withdrawal is normally 500US and can be increased to 3000US max.

Check bellow ( taken from paypal website)

Your Monthly Withdrawal Limit is the maximum amount of money you can withdraw each month from your PayPal account. Your Total Withdrawal Limit is the maximum amount you can withdraw from your PayPal account if you have not been verified. Once your Total Withdrawal Limit reaches a zero amount, your Monthly Withdrawal Limit will be zero as well.

To increase this limit to $2.500,00 USD link and confirm your credit card.

Your Monthly Withdrawal Limit is: $500,00 USD per month

$500,00 USD Remaining
Your Total Withdrawal Limit: $3.000,00 USD

Regards,

CD

Hmmm...you should probably email PayPal customer support and ask them.

Also, be vary about phishing type scams, where he says its Paypal but actually might be linked to a fake site. Make sure you check the URLs, and SSL certificates.

One scam a friend had earlier was with escrow.com, where the scamster had forged the escrow.com PDF form file and changed the bank account details to a western union account - otherwise the form looked totally same as the normal form.

be careful accepting money via paypal. the buyer could file a paypal claim withing 45 days and get his money back which he paid to you citing some false reasons.
better to find a local buyer for your bike and accept cash, even personal cheques should be avoided if possible in these troubled times.
