Mercedes-Benz is readying an update to the E-class for the 2014 model year. Since 1997 the E-class has had a distinctive quad headlight setup. This look largely defined Mercedes styling in the 2000s.
Lately though, Mercedes has shown off a sharper and more defined styling language. As a bread and butter model, the E-class has always been more conservative in styling. While the rest of the Mercedes lineup began moving away from the quad headlight setup, the E-class retained it when it was updated in 2010.
For 2014, Mercedes is updating the E-class to fit in with it’s latest styling direction. The result is a singular headlight unit that features four LED lighting graphics, which help retain some visual continuity with previous models. While that is the biggest change, new taillights and body panels out back will feature as well.
With an update this significant, we imagine that the interior will see substantial updating as well. Interestingly enough, Mercedes hasn’t confirmed that the updated E-class will be coming to the Los Angeles International Auto Show. It seems like a perfect location but Mercedes may decide to hold it’s own private event later on. Either way, it will be introduced soon. In the meantime, you can check out this teaser video that Mercedes released today.
