Bull Bar on SUV

Postby ewap8 on Wed Oct 07, 2009 3:17 pm

A cabbie hit my two month old Pajero frm the back at junction on Mankhool Road in Dubai. I was stood still at the junction but I guess his brakes weren't too good, so he hit me while braking to stop behind me. Luckily, the max damage was to his car, but I did get a small dent. Insurance will sort it all out from the agency, but it got me thinking about adding Bull Bars to the front and rear of the Pajero. Does anyone have any experience with them?

Firstly, it is legal to install them in a car in Dubai?
Secondly, is it effective? Does being in a crash (like the one I was in) lead to reduced damaged compared to a stock car?
Thirdly, how much does it cost?
Thanks!

with a bull bar the damage could have been worse as the bar will be pressed against ur bumper, it might help for very low speed accidents but at higher speeds it will do more damage than good. plus insurance companies could use it as an excuse to void the claim saying without the bull bar the damage would have been less or something, and they look fugly too!!

that is true. it gets a lot more complicated when insurance companies are involved. they could even fault you for applying the bars and say that you actually helped create more damage to your vehicle. fortunately i have never had that experience. i drive a truck and it actually looks okay for a truck to have such bull bars.
