not really aware of any in the UAE...

The public doesnt ask for it, and the price of fuel doesnt demand it...
I know Honda doesnt sell it and i also know that toyota isnt bringing any down.

However, if ur just looking for a good fuel efficient car, let us know and we can give u some suggestions....
Civics & Corollas usually give pretty good mileage.... :)

Yeah i read the post about ur envoy - sry to hear about that - good thing is that you are all right :)

About a fuel efficient car - some questions need to be answered first...

1) budget?
2) can u buy used?
3) do u really care what ur seen in?
I can suggest a Dhaiatsu Sirion 1.0L engine that gets u amazing mileage - but u may not need that efficient or u may prefer something larger
4) do u care about resale?
5) do u care about maintenance costs?
5) when u say fuel efficient? - how efficient? - will a 3.0L V6 be ok? or something smaller?

Hope u get my point - hard to give u some suggestions without knowing things first. :)

Generally the cars in Dubai that run below the 2.0L engine size are pretty good...

Honda Jazz 1.5
Honda City 1.3 & 1.5
Honda Civic 1.8
Toyota Corolla 1.3 & 1.8
Toyota Yaris 1.5L (?)
Toyota XA 1.5L
Mazda 3 1.6
Mitsubishi Lancer 1.3
VW Golf 1.6
Dhaiatsu (any model)
Nissan Sunny 1.6L
...
..
.
point is that the list can pretty much add another 20 cars.... all these will get u great mileage....

Well with all your options.. I thing Toyota's 1.3 Xli or Civic 1.8 or XA 1.5 would be the better option for fuel efficiency and resale value and pretty decent looks too..
Either the way to answer your criteria's
1. Budget 50K to 75K.
2. Used Cars too.. wont mind with decent millage and within 2 yrs manufacture.
3. Really dont care what iam seen in coz, be practical and realistic...
4. Resale value required too..
5. Maintainence costs i think wont vary much, but not to spend hugh chunk like 1k for every service.
6. As you mentioned Smaller than 2.0L will be the better option coz i travel averagly about 180 KM per day (Company Paid Petrol ;P)

Thanks for your concerns....

Why are you looking for a fuel efficient car when your company pays for petrol?
Your best bet would be a Yaris hatch. It's fuel-efficient, cheap to mantain, has great resale and looks good too.
Give respect, get respect.

GM already manufactured a hybrid model of their Silverado pickup truck (last year).. It ddnt do much improvement on da truck's economy.... so i guess they need 2 do more research b4 making their giant SUV hybrids...

i actually studied GM in 2003-04 (cant remeber exactly when) from a strategic point....

They were doing very badly and they were probably the only company at the time that were not focusing on Hybrid technology. Furthermore they were really loosing market share in the US (their largest market)....

At the time things were looking very bad - their first Hybrid vehicle was supposed to come out this year- 07 (considering Honda produced the Prius in 2000, they were 7 years behind!)....

They were on target bad need to improve that technology to really stay in the game. i wonder what they are doing.....

Talkin abt technology.. american cars work best with less technological sophistication.... i had and witnessed many bad experiences with american cars n their computers, electrical systems.... even their power windows break down in 3years time n u cost like hell 2 replace...
within 2 years ive spend 2300k replacing 2 power windows on my '01 Grand cherokee...

American cars have a history of being unreliable....
However, i trully do believe that they are making it ALOT better.

Their newer vehicles can be matched to some Jap rivals....

Yeah American cars cannot be branded all the same. Choose GMC Envoy and Trailblazer's. Check out their performance and millage. It will clearly exceed the current parado's and models of their range. I beleive in Envoy's and Trailblazer's. Can you compare a 5.3 ltr engine giving a 285 BHP with fuel efficiency of about 18 to 20 MPG with any other vechicle of their range...

Anyways, i was enquiring has any one heard about Hybrid's in UAE. Could it be imported. Need some information on this. Iam Checking with Honda manufactures. I hope they are the top in Hybrids now. Literally expecting a car to run in electricity from 0 to 40 and then conventional fuel can take over ( Might Be asking for too much.. But there is no end for an automobile enthusiatic..)..
