That's a very interesting question. Although I think the prices you have been quoted for the Camaro are a bit high compared to what I've been told:
http://tinyurl.com/camarogbudataI hope to be driving the Nissan 370Z at the end of next month. But I have driven the new Camaro SS on the launch a couple of months back. I felt there was a bit of a problem with the suspension rebound making the car unsettling on undulations when cornering.
They've since fixed the car and I retested it:
http://tinyurl.com/camarossdriveI have a soft spot for simply American muscle cars, but I can understand the concerns people have expressed here about it being another American POS.
But what you've got to remember is that this isn't really American at all. It's Australian - it's developed by the engineers at Holden. These guys know what they are doing - just think Bathurst 1000!
The Camaro has just hit showrooms and I believe the 370Z will be trickling in towards the end of September. It'll be very interesting to know which you chose and why.
All the best.
