Shipping a vehicle rom USA to UAE

Postby mazdarx8 on Thu Jan 31, 2008 2:56 am

okay guys, its been asked a thousand times, however there are no solid awnsers.

My question is, since I am coming to UAE, i talked with a freind of mine in UAE (living there) and he told me, the best bet if i wanted a vette/viper would be to import one from the US.

My key question is, what kind of taxes do i have to pay? I am guessing if i live in sharjah, the dubai port would be the easiest?

Also would an american car as a viper (stock, 00-03 year, 15,000 miles max) be straightforward to register without any hassle?

There is a 5% duty on imports. Make sure you have the price documents of your car as they use that normally to calculate duties.

Registration should be simple as long as the car passes the health check. You also need to have the original papers from US that you are the owner, plus also the custom papers of import.

If you want more details on the registration process, you can call Tasjeel. Their office in Awir has phone number: 04-3331510

Thank you root. 5% based on the sale value of the car I am assuming?
