(Yes I know this is the 3rd thread on this, but everyone needs to know)

I was scanning for a mitsubishi eclipse when I came across this ad - http://www.autodealer.ae/plugins/ad/buy ... p?id=41243

The ad looked way too good to be true. The car was worth atleast thrice that amount with all the mods. Nevertheless, I decided to email the concerned person and find out more about it. Here's how the emailing went -

Hi,

This is in reference to ur mitsubishi eclipse ad priced at AED 20,000 - http://www.autodealer.ae/plugins/ad/buy ... p?id=41243

Is the car still available? If it is, is it available here in the UAE or do I have to pay for it to get imported?

Please let me know ASAP.

My contact no. is - +971-50-xxxxxxx

Thanks,

Me

the car is still available for sale and you'll have to pay make a US $3000 (~10.000 AED) deposit in an escrow account and after you receive the car the next USD $3000. Let us know if you agree with our terms and we can finish the deal.

So are you saying the car is not here in the UAE? Because I was looking forward to have a look at it and give it a test drive.

After this email I did a lot of research on escrow accounts. There were innumerous cases of escrow fraud on the net. I came across this page on ebay - http://pages.ebay.com/help/confidence/p ... scrow.html I also checked out escrow.com and they were even offering services of having their team check out the car before shipping it. So, after reading up on all this I sent Mike another email -

I forgot to mention is that I have no problem working with an escrow service, as long its only http://www.escrow.com/

Also, I will be sending some people over to inspect the car just to make sure everything's ok before the deal.

I hope there are no issues with these terms.

Regards,

Me

I have not recieved any reply since. So in conclusion, I would like to caution everyone against this car. You could be losing a wad of cash in return for nothing.

Never Pay for a Car unless you have actually seen it, along with the Ownership title. Also for people buying cars locally, Always get the car transfered onto your own name and pay the person after that. Always keep written records of the Sale and Payments to protect yourself from future dispute.

All the best!
