hi there
iam a true outdoor fan and jus got my new license. Iam planning to buy a 2nd hand 4 wheel drive ( till I get the hang of things ) and with regards to my budget I have narrowed down to Nativa vs Pajero. The nativa is more affordable than the pajero. But I dont mind the pajero as well if i find better reasons to buy it. Iam not into gadgets as I believe its cheaper and better to do your own vehicle than buy stuff from the company you dont want. Please advise which one I should go for and why.

Plus iam offered a 2004 nativa at 27k by a friend. is it worth that much?

P.S iam seeing the above vehicle tomorrow 8)

Between the 2, the Pajero is the better bet due to:
- better offroader
- better resale

when buying an older car than 3 years I would suggest to spend the extra 200-300 Dhms and get it properly checked up by a garage before you strike the deal. This will reduce the surprises of expensive repairs that might be needed.

27k for a 2004 Nativa depends on the condition. The new Nativa is around 70-80k, so maybe its 5-7k too high if you look at just yearly depreciation.

appreciate the quick reply root ... the nativa in question has just done 110,000 kms and never driven off road and plus its sold by someone I know. I will definitely have it checked for defects.

only prob is the pajero is a bit off the budget and I feel tat the nativa is got everything minus the frills of the pajero..and if it is a Pajero it is definitely going to be a 3 door pajero for me.. so with that respect, the only thing tat worries me is if i buy the nativa and it does not live up in performance terms like

- easy daily driving which includes the fact that I stay in sharjah and traffic is always a concern

- lots of off -roading as I love doing it regularly and since the nativa has a lower powered engine will I be hampered in anyway?

- they say the nativa is sluggish coz it has an old engine.. how bad is this point of the nativa? doesnt the pajero 3 door use the same 4A 3L engine also for the 3.0 version?

- when you say better off - roader .. in what terms is tat?

thanks :)

I have never driven the Nativa can't say much! It is built on the same platform as the Mitsubishi L200 pickup truck that you see plenty of. I would guess its not got all the 4x4 options that the Pajero has - probably just a 4x4 on/off type option.

Its body weight is less than the pajero, so not sure about being more sluggish than the Pajero. The Pajero 3.0 is a bit sluggish.

At the end you get what you pay for, so if you are getting a good deal and it caters your needed, then thats the vehicle to get.

So the Nativa is the same as the Montero! Never knew about that. For a change I think the Nativa aka the Montero would be a nice vehicle. It is better looking compared to the Pajero which does not evolve.
