Pathfinder Vs Pajero

Hi guys,

I'm planing to buy a family car.

My budget is 130K
I have a pajero deal it's a 2010 3.8l model for 129K fully loaded with camera Navigation blue-tooth... you name it (i love gadgets :D) 50K free service and 5 years or 100K warranty.

Another deal is the Pathfinder. 2009 fully loaded 4.0l LE without navigation and no blue-tooth. for 131K. First 2 services for free and 3 years or 100K warranty.

I Drove both felt the pajero a bit heavy compared to the pathfinder.

But as i said this is a family car so my wife will be driving it more then i would.
I live in Abu Dhabi so maneuverability is something to consider.
I have a baby so off roading will be limited to a camping trip for the coming 3 years.
And a Dubai trip once a week.

Safety, durability and reliability are the most important factor.

My heart is with the pathfinder loved the interior and power.
But my brain can't stop saying pajero.

Please throw me a carrot and guide me to my new car :D

Thanks

Pajero. 3.8 full option.
why.
1. less cost more options.
2. service cost savings from 10,000 to 50,000 kms.. aprox 5500 Dhs. (count it as extra savings while buying)
3. More warranty. makes much more sense... just check to ensure that its full warranty or 3 ys 60k full warranty + 2 year 40k extended warranty.
If its extended warranty for extra two years, it would only cover engine and transmission. nothing else. so, u need to decide on that if you want to keep teh car for about 5 years, then take it or else leave it and negotiate for extra discount. the extended warranty is also non-transferable if you sell teh car.

If its full warranty all teh way, then just get it!

all the best!

P.S. push for more goodies like teflon coating and anti-rust and foot mats etc.

also. for your camping trips... the front seat backs of teh pajero recline fully and make like a 180 degree bed when in contact with teh rear seat. great for camping and sleeping in teh car with teh baby.

been there done that!!

thanks kapil, i guess i will go for the pajero going today for another test drive.
another thing should i drop the DVD and navigation it's costing me 9000 at the dealer and replace it with an external one? or should i try the accessory shop for a fitted one?

I would tend to agree with Kapil. Te best value for money seems to be with the Pajero at the moment. And this deal ongoing is pretty good as well.

The new Pathfinder never really made it big in UAE. Nissan still has 2009 stock of this as they have not been able to sell that off yet.

But, are you sure you get Navigation with Pajero? I was at Al-Habtoor yesterday, and they told me that none of their vehicles come with Navigation. They have the option on the top-of-the-line to either have a sun-roof, or a DVD kit (for the kids in the back), but not both.

Would be interested to hear back on the warranty if you get clarifications.

My opinion....

dont get teh dvd screen instead of teh sunroof. althoygh teh utility of sunroof would depend on your personal orientation. i hv never driven with it open or otrherwise.... but i have left it split when parking in teh sun and for shooting the planes at teh airshow!

I also dont see any real utility in navigation if you are not going deep into teh desert or any area without roads.... The standard rockford music system is worth a kill!

also dont see any real utility in camera parking assist... if they can give you blindspot cameras then great!

but ift my opinion based on what i would do and ofcourse pajero commands a strong re-sale vale!

pajero with navi and backup camera? wow finally. is it a factory option or some aftermarket one the dealer adds into the vehicle?
i know many people who bought the 2008-2009 prado as the above 2 items were lacking and when i spoke to the saleguy a few months ago they said no backup cam or navi for pajero.
also does this pajero have the rockford fosgate stereo along with the navi and cam?
all for 129k is a great deal.

last november it was around 132k for the full option one with the rockford fosgate system with NO navi or bluetooth or backup cam and not even the 50k service contract!!

Yeah, compared to the new Prado the Pajero is a great deal. Prado 4.0 6-cyl is going for 157k and only 1 year insurance.

Yeah Brembo it is from the dealer it's not displayed in the showroom but they will add it to the car for 9000. it is a great offer and it will last for the end of the month but they are selling like crazy today i saw at least 20 new ones on the road.

too bad they dont have the model for display at the showroom? id like to take a look at the quality of the aftermarket parts and if its nicely integrated into the center console.
does it come with the rockford fosgate audio option also?
