Re: Nissan Xterra........Patrol ?why patrol and why xterra?
Re: Nissan Xterra........Patrol ?Well, the Patrol 2009 is starting from 149K and goes to 199K for the full-specs.
The Xterra starts at 91K and goes upto 105K. I don't think 2009 model has arrived, but there are no changes. It's upto your budget really. If you can afford the Patrol, then that's a lovely vehicle - great off-roads as well, and maintains price really well. Re: Nissan Xterra........Patrol ?root, in your opinion doesn't the xterra give excellent off-road capabilities for a much lesser price?
Yes, sure its a smaller vehicle but it is also far too less thirsty for pertol than teh patrol.
Re: Nissan Xterra........Patrol ?Agree!
But both vehicles are in a different category and price-class as well. It's Xterra vs Rav4 vs Fortuner. It's Patrol vs Land Cruiser. In both categories Nissan seems to give more bang for the buck. Xterra's only downside currently is that its a new model, so its popularity and resale are unknown. Nissan has had hits and misses earlier...one model is a big hit, but next one a big flop. Re: Nissan Xterra........Patrol ?I don't think that xterra and rav4 are same class! I would really be surprised if toyota has made rav 4 so capable. Maybe its ok for the crv, rav 4 and x-trail.
Also, my gut feel is that xterra might sell but it won't be a patrol or even a prado for that matter!
Re: Nissan Xterra........Patrol ?Agree that xterra and rav4 are different but fall in the same price class and seating capacity class.

Re: Nissan Xterra........Patrol ?I thought you were getting a coupe?
Xterra competes more with the FJ Cruiser than anything else. If money was no object, I'd certainly get a Patrol over the Xterra. Give respect, get respect.
Re: Nissan Xterra........Patrol ?I was indeed going for the coupe.......... but a few guys are pushing me for a 4WD.
Finanaces are a little constraint. Patrol at 140-150 would be a little over budget.. What about the pathfinder. Nobody seems to talk about it much Alvin
Re: Nissan Xterra........Patrol ?Pathfinder is a good choice too. Why don't you look into other non-Nissan options as well.
Don't get pushed, get what you want to because in the end, you are gonna wake up every morning and drive what you bought Give respect, get respect.
Re: Nissan Xterra........Patrol ?The pathfindr model that is currently being sold is influenced by the european SUVs. What I mean is that its is not as mean off-roader compared to the previous model. Even the ground clearance is lesser. Having said that , it IS a pretty good vehicle.
and yea the non nissan suv and cars are worth seeing also. Mitsubishi's offers are really hard to beat when it comes to getting good bargains, but then we all have to compromise some where or the other. And don't buy a vehicle beacuse you are being pushed into.... take your time and test teh ones you think fit your limits, even the ones you might have disparoved without being in one. You just might be pleasently surprised. Have fun.
Re: Nissan Xterra........Patrol ?please pardon any spealing mistakes.... not writing by hand has totally f***ed them up!!
Re: Nissan Xterra........Patrol ?The Xterra was introduced in North America in the 2000 model year and marketed as a simple but capable SUV with the slogan Everything you need, nothing you don't. Although accepted by a wide range of ages, incomes, lifestyles and genders, Nissan marketed the Xterra primarily to the adventurous and outdoor consumer. Many commercials feature one driving the vehicle through mud, unloading mountain bikes out of the back, or packing up surfing equipment.
Three design cues have remained constant through the vehicle's life, its raised rear roofline and the hump-backed rear gate. The raised roof allows for stadium seating and the hump provides room for a first aid kit. The rear door handles are installed on the "C" pillar as a Nissan design tradition started with the 1986 Nissan Pathfinder. When the four door Pathfinder was introduced, Nissan chose to conceal the door handles as a part of the "C" pillar trim to visually make it appear like a two door truck with a camper shell, with conventional door handles on the front doors.
