I guess the Edge will be the most comfortable to drive around the city.
Same goes for safety as its a crossover
Prado will certainly have the least depreciation and best fuel consumption if its the 2.7 one.

Thanks TNT
i am not looking for 2.7L prado, power is too less and i heard its petrol thursty as well, liked the 4L one. was doubtful coz of the new version coming by 2009
but what do u say abt edge? the reviews i heard are mixed!! it available locally for 90-100 range which is not so bad
but little worried about after 1-2 years, will it go down by 20-30 more

Can't say much about the Edge's resale as its still kinda new but its safe to say that it'll lose around 20k in 2 years

The Edge will return 18 mpg in combined driving conditions.
For comparision, a 4.0l Pathfinder will return 16 mpg combined.

I personally think its a bad year to buy a new SUV this year...the Prado should come out with a new look 2009 as the current shape has been going on for many years and its about the time when Toyota changes models.

Same goes for Honda MRV which already has done a sneak preview of their 2009 model (atleast in USA where it's called MRV).

The above 2 would be my choices for SUVs if it wasn't for the model change.

Pathfinder has not done that great in this market. Dont really know why. There are loads of other SUV options with Nissan...like the Qashqai, Xterra and Murano. Murano is a good one if you can afford it...its a crossover though.

Edge has a good shape, drive, power as well as the dealer is giving some good service free type offers...but its a Ford. And that translates into higher depreciation. You may want to look at the Mazda 7-seater..its based on the same platform as the Edge but has better reviews.

There is always the Mitsu Pajero! It's just had a recent face uplift.
Take also a look at the Toyota Fortuner or Rav4. I like these both and they have good resale as well.

Man this is the response i was looking for,Ur Bang on!!
As far as i know the same engine and gear box has been used in FJcruiser and Land cruiser. so there can not be any changes or updates techncially. May the change will be focusing on looks

but u think a new model from prado will ever affect the value of old prados?
example the new land cruier has come but the old ones still rock!

I think the old Prados will still rock! The only issue with Prados is that there is a 3 month wait to get a new one and then every other person has one ;)

The new shape may put a 10% extra depreciation on the vehicle...I dont believe more.

The prices for new Prados have been going up yearly, so buying a new one has been a great investment in the past, with depreciation like 5% per year.

The future is hard to say..its really related with the currency exchange rates. If we continue with the sinking dollar-peg then the cars will continue appreciating as the dollar sinks.

Bottomline about Prado is that its a great overall package: good looking, spacious and very reliable. Hence, it will always be in demand.

MPG means Miles Per Gallon
The higher the MPG, the better. The Prado returns 16 mpg with the 4.0l V6.
I say consider a Pathfinder or Pajero if you are going for something brand new!
