ZINC & RACIAL DISCRIMINATION

Postby fastbeak on Sat Dec 03, 2005 3:17 am

the bouncers of ZINC are RACISTS. i'm talking about the white ones. and even at times the lebanese bouncers around dubai clubs turn out to be racial monsters forgetting their own roots they will treat u bad... specially if u indian or of dark skin and don't drive a ferrari...
i noticed a few times outside ZINC how they treat people of coloured skin... if u r wasted dead drunk, without any reservations but white mostly a brit then u will be welcomed with a sly smile but elsewise have to go through a door of hate. and most of the times turned around. if anyone doubts my opinion, please go outside ZINC n stand there for 15 mins and see for yourself. me and my colleagues we promised never to go back to clubs like ZINC... their doors have RACISTS to unwelcome u dark skinned middle-class people.

welcome to Dubai!

Postby Zahid on Sun Dec 04, 2005 12:19 am

This is how it is here! If you're white, british, european you get 3 times the salary for doing nothing while if you are indian, pakistani, arab you get nothing for 3 times the job! Pick up Gulf News job advertisements and you will find that almost half the job ads have racial profiling!!!
So why are you surprised about the clubs being any different?

Worst thing that I fail to understand why the locals take this! They are probably even more discriminated at clubs than indians! Still they treat like kings these totally incompetant people whose only "credential" is their white skin - these people would probably not even find a job back home, but here they are the managers, directors and masters and employed/put there by local emiratis.

really?

dude, I never expereinced that kinda discrimination in Zinc. Granted I haven't been in Dubai for long but I have been to Zinc a couple of times. I thought it was awsome, however still don't understand this couples business.

Why aren't single people allowed in?? most places I have been to (other than UAE and INDIA) they do not have a couple policy. Everyone's welcome... "Come one, and come all". Bouners are only there to keep the unsavoury characters out, not to judge them by their colour. (worked as a bouncer, whilst I was studying in Uni.... I know.. but it paid for nigths out... what u expect me to spend Daddy's hard earned money on Booze???)

Just to show support, I shall try and flood that place with Indian's the next time. We shall see if they stop us.

couples to keep up the ratio

Postby Ferrari on Sun May 28, 2006 10:26 pm

I thought the idea of couples was crazy as well, but I think I understand the philosophy now. With more percentage males going out than females in countries like UAE a place needs to have a even mix to stay attractive. Just think that you would not like to go a place where you only see guys around. You need some eye candy :)

There are other places in the city where you can go in just as men, but then the woman there are normally "working" that help even out the ratio.

One thing that works globally is that if you are willing to spend money inside, you will always get in. Bars are busnesses and if you tell them that you want a bottle with your friends, you will be escorted in to a table.
What bars dont like are guys who dont buy anything, reduce the female/male ratio and potentially can cause problems inside. Again its all business.

I see the light..

Postby Kelab on Tue May 30, 2006 12:04 pm

I see your logic. damn shame the male ratio is higher in this country... which means the women are gonna be spoilt rotten for choices.

having said that Zinc does seem to have some the best looking floating crowd. Eye candy all around.

I was a bit perplexed, with something i saw last night. I had gone to a party in Shangrila hotel. Not that I experienced any racial discrimination as such, I noticed that one gets served faster if you look like you will buy the bar.

2nd of all I noticed an old man talking to a woman (who I'm sure is from Eastern Europe), ow the guy looks like a big shot, the women in question, Tattoted, had goth clothes on but with blonde hair ( I know, it was unusual). the point I am trying to make is that when the woman walked in people ignored her, but as soon as this old fogiee walked up and started talking to her, she gets what ever she orders.

In Europe and all, you find the well off always dressing down, hence a hotel always treats all it's guest equally cos u never know who is the better customer. Here they judge you by the way, you are dressed etc.

Basically i will get serverd if I wear an Armani suit etc, but if I come in WALMARTS finest suit for $3.00/- they woudl probably give me a broom and show me to the loo.

I felt bit sorry for the girl, cos at the end of the day I saw her paying the bill for the several drinks she had ordered, including the old foggie's (whom she managed to sent off packing) and the round she bought for the people sitting at the bar

What I am trying to say is that People are constantly judging who you are by appearences. Never seen that before.... I mean for a bar to serve a woman.

couples are always ok

Postby Ferrari on Sat Jun 03, 2006 11:37 pm

i had once problem at Zinc and that was only when I went there with a male friend. They did not fancy letting 2 blokes in. Actually, we would have gotten in, but they needed to show others about the couple policy as many were being turned down.

So, we just found some nice emirates air hostesses in the queue and walked into the place :)

BTW, I want to get hold of a FACE card. Anyone know where to buy a fake one?

Postby Kelab on Mon Jun 05, 2006 2:25 pm

well, well married to a crew memeber.. some people have all the luck.

Sure, I'll let u borrow me car..... once I have lost me mind! Nah, just kidding, need to get the car first before I even think of lending it to anyone.

As for introduction to "fine chicks', don;t really have a problem on my own, but never with a crew memeber. (lucky git)

Anyway, the company is putting pressureon me to chooe the car.... have to say kinda bored of driving the E class they have hired for me.

zinc got shut down

Postby root on Sat Oct 07, 2006 10:24 pm

I know this is an old thread...but as putting an end to this thread, Zinc shut down a few weeks before Ramadan started. The new place was called Fresh and for those who hated the bouncers the bad news is that they are the same as before.

After Ramadan a new place or a newer 'Fresh' is to open.
