The Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe Black Series wowed everyone when it completed a lap at the Nurburgring with a time of 7:46. The ‘Baby Benz’ was displayed recently at the L.A. Auto Show. The C63 AMG Black Series’ time puts it far ahead of its rivals like the twin-turbo, V-12-powered SL65 AMG Black Series with a time of 7:51, the E92 BMW M3 GTS that got 7:48 and CLK63 Black Series with 8:05.
These last two vehicles were equipped with Pirelli P Zero Corsas. Meanwhile, the C63 AMG Black Series is covered in Dunlop Sport Maxx Race tires. In the range, the Black Series is positioned above the standard C63 AMG. Its footprint is 2 inches wider to adjust to the performance improvements.
It is fitted with the same 6.2L V8, which can deliver 510hp. It is able to attain this figure by making use of forged pistons, a revised engine control unit and lighter crankshaft and connected rods. The C63 AMG Black Series goes even faster when fitted with the large carbon fiber rear wing and big air dam, enabling it to accelerate from zero to 60mph in only 4.2 seconds. The C63 AMG Black Series would certainly be one of the fastest street-legal cars around but it still falls behind the Lexus LFA with a time of 7:14 and the Dodge Viper ACR that achieved a 7:12 time.
