PRESS RELEASE

Over the years, one of the most iconic names in sports car motoring has marked a reputation for itself for power, pleasure and performance. And with the latest range of Porsche 911 Carrera and Carrera 4, this tradition continues.

More powerful, fuel-efficient flat-six engines with direct fuel injection are among the highlights of the new series for both the rear-wheel and all-wheel drive variants.

On the other hand, power is accompanied with a greener solution, with the new levels of improved fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions.

The Carrera and Carrera 4 boast a flat-six 3.6-litre powerplant with direct fuel injection that develops 345 bhp, a total of 20 bhp more than before. Meanwhile, the Carrera S and Carrera 4S, with its 3.8-litre engine, is up by 30 bhp to 385 bhp, bringing scintillating performance beyond the 300 km/h mark.

And in spite of all this sublime power and performance, Porsche engineers have ensured that fuel consumption in the 911 Carrera range is once more down on previous versions.

The 911 Carrera Coupé with manual gearbox, for example, gives figures of just 10.3 litres/100 km, while the Porsche Doppelkupplung PDK version, with its double-clutch transmission, gives even greater fuel economy of just 9.8 litres/100 km.

These new models are the first Porsche production cars to boast the Porsche Doppelkupplung PDK transmission. Having introduced this technology on track cars over 20 years ago, the German carmaker has gained a reputation as pioneer of this outstanding feature.

Seven gears shift electrohydraulically without any interruption to traction, power and pulling force.

Other features within the new 911 Carrera powertrain include a new intake manifold with larger air filters, which serve to make the best use of torque and engine power.

Also, there is now the Drive-off Assist on all new models in the range, which makes the cars more responsive to hill starts; meanwhile, a mechanical limited-slip differential for improved traction comes as an option.

The Carrera 4 now features Porsche Traction Management (PTM), which is able to convert the superior power and torque into powerful acceleration and handling under all driving conditions. This technology was only previously only available on the 911 Turbo.

An even more refined version of the outstanding Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) system now comes as standard on Carrera S and 4S models to give the cars even greater smoothness with performance than before.

Meanwhile, larger brakes work extremely effectively with Porsche Stability Management (PSM) and now comprise the Brake Pre-filling and Brake Assist functions on all models.

Deesch Papke, Managing Director of Porsche Middle East & Africa, sees the new Carrera range as the most technologically advanced yet. 'The Carrera and the Carrera 4 offer outstanding performance with a range of cutting-edge technology,' he said.

'With even more power and a host of innovations, this new generation Carrera with its unmistakable silhouette stands out for its performance, economy and provides an even more thrilling driving experience.'

Vijay Rao, General Manager of Porsche Centre Dubai, Al Naboodah Automobiles LLC, agreed with this and added: 'Porsche engineers have done a fine job to make an already wonderful car even more enjoyable to drive. The new features of the Carrera range take this legendary nameplate to an even higher level.'
