Again a plate more expensive than the car.

Talking about plates, has anyone seen the X plates? Apparently they are the most expensive.

I'd rather buy a decent supercar with that kind of money.

well, if you've got the money...

The plate is like a painting..like a van Gogh or Rembrandt. You can buy it for a few million dollars and enjoy it and if you ever want to sell it you make atleast your money back...normally even more.

So, its actually a pretty decent investment.

Say, you buy for 3.5 million. Use it for 2 years and sell for 4 million. Thats 0.5 million in 2 years...thats around 15% return per year...much better than a fixed deposit in a bank, while you also enjoy the most exclusive plate in town.

Now, if you dont have the 3.5 million to play with then its a totally different story ;)

just read this post... i know its quiet late reply...
i don't think there is X plates for sale...
X1 or 4X
or anything X= a digit which the seller keeps confidential, for personal or business reasons.

X1 could be 51 or 41 or ...

You got us wrong man. We were talking about the letters assigned to all plates like A, B, C etc.
As for what you are talking about, I've seen numbers like 4XX4 in ads of sellers of high end number plates. Either it means that they've got any two digits you ask for (between the two 4's) OR they are hiding it for unknown reasons.

When I said X1 I was referring to an Ad as well, so I think what fastbeak is saying is probably right..they are hiding the number they have. I guess the buyers and sellers of 2-digit plates is a small community that knows each other.

well guys, fastbeack is correct...
the X in the number represents any number but it might not be a number of our choice, its just to hide the identity of the number and the seller...

and heres a nice site to check out all the special numbers for sale for those of you interested... http://www.2020.ae
