Advice needed about buying the previous generation audi TT 1.8 with automatic... A friend is interested in getting one but what should one consider to do when purchasing such car? parts, problems, servicing?? help much appreciated..

Not much really..have never heard any particular problem with the TTs.
Like every used vehicle, look for wear and tear issues, if its been accidented, etc.

Parts are obviously more expensive and you need to find places outside to service as Nabooda will milk you for that.

Somethings that normally need to be fixed/upgraded are the brake pads and disks. Sometimes the shocks have been abused and not working well - these can cost more than the brake work, but I had a friend that got this job done under 2k including the service.

The one thing I can say is that the 1.8 liter might feel underpowered. If he's out to buy a 'sports' or 'fast' car, he might be disappointed a bit.

What year is it and how much is he getting it for?
