Isuzu Troop...is this any good?

Postby Nas on Fri Sep 29, 2006 12:49 am

Hi all,

I am considering to buy Isuzu Trooper model 97 m/gear. Should be okay for work.
As Isuzu is not very popular in UAE I wonder how the things are with spare parts etc.

Any thoughts Isuzu owners?

Thx

spares + resale

Nas, the problems you will have are that spares might be more difficult to find. For a 97 you probably dont want to take to the dealer or get dealer parts, but might not have that many other options.

Another thing to remember is that in UAE, manual gears in 4x4s are harder to sell.

So, you might be getting a good bargain on this trooper, but then you will be giving back that bargain when you sell it.

Have not driven it, but reviews I've read claim it to be reliable and a lot of vehicle for your money.

Personally, i would take other options.

My advice: DON'T BUY IT!
Why? Because buying it is like paying to buy problems. No resale value, manual gear makes it worse. And it is going to be 10 years old.
Take root's advice, go for something else!

Well both root and TNT are right about going for something else instead .
Well we had driven a 2001 Izuzu trooper from the showroom .....as a test drive and kept it for a day . Well the plus is that its a sturdy offroader and does not drink as much petrol as the other 4X4's . But the negatives are quite a few...the interior was not great , the drive was no way near smooth , and the transmission lacked some sort of initiative . Well for a 3.2 ltr 4X4 it has a very low bhp . I think something like 140 odd at least for 2001 model .

The other negatives are very well explained by root and TNT , so i guess you must have a good deal of information by now . However you might want to just have a drive about in it ..... to really decide whats right and whats wrong .

Since it is Isuzu I guess the vehicle is very tough and highly dependable! I have the same truck it was a surplus from Japan converted to left hand drive still runs great and has extra features that has none in my country's production line.
