Re: Top Gear in Abu Dhabi - Racing on the streets!Did anyone notice how the rear-lights of the Bugatti flash? Nifty!
and also, where's all the Abu Dhabi traffic? Surely they have cleared off the roads, but I don't see anyone or any car on side roads either. Come and discuss at the most lively forums about Cars, Bikes, 4x4s...at http://www.autodealer.ae at the Autodealer UAE Forums.

Re: Top Gear in Abu Dhabi - Racing on the streets!Hi guys... I found this on Gulfnews!!!
Traffic and Transport Supplied Picture Parts of the Corniche were cordoned off to film a high speed chase involving a Formula One car, helicopter, and a fleet of police cars and bikes, for the action-packed commercial. Abu Dhabi police film road safety commercial with F1 car By Rayeesa Absal, Staff Reporter Published: September 12, 2009, 18:10 Abu Dhabi: Very unlike the usual calm along the Corniche street on a Friday afternoon, this weekend the place was witness to high speed action. The Abu Dhabi police used a Formula One car in filming an action packed road safety commercial along the street to spread the word on safety ahead of one of the most eagerly awaited sports event of the year, the final race of this seasons Formula One. Parts of the Corniche were cordoned off to film the shot involving a Formula One car, helicopter, and a fleet of police cars and bikes. The vehicles sped by as the low flying copter tightly escorted the fleet, much to the awe of curious onlookers and passers-by who had not much clue about what was happening. “The objective of the commercial is to communicate that Formula One is a community event and that we are responsible for all aspects related to its safety and security. More importantly, the event is a tool for us to pass important safety messages to the public, especially to the youth”, said Lt Majid al Marzouqi of the police. “The theme of the video is that speed kills, not thrills, and that high speed is only meant for the race tracks and not for the streets”, he said. Dubai Autodromes’s Andy Boux was behind the F1 wheels for the shoot. The commercial is scheduled to be aired from the first week of October as part of a comprehensive multimedia campaign involving newspapers, television, radio, cinemas, and internet tools such as youtube, twitter, facebook etc. The road is being closed to traffic for brief intervals to keep the traffic flow smooth as much as possible. 'F 999' car The Abu Dhabi police will soon have their own customised racing car named F 999. The car will act as a centrepiece in upcoming police campaigns to spread awareness on road safety, said Lt Majid al Marzouqi of Abu Dhabi police. Although the engine of F 999 will be as powerful as any other racing car, it will not be used for racing. Rather it will serve the purpose of sending out a powerful safety message to the public”, he said.
