Thorough car cleaning

Postby ewap8 on Wed Nov 07, 2007 11:01 am

I am looking for a service that will get rid of the many scratches and make it appear like new. The car is about 2 yrs old and has several minor scratches on it. Its only been to the normal Emarat car wash. I understand waxing is an option but I'm completely clueless about it.

Is there some place I can go for a nice thorough polish? How much would it cost me? Thanks!

I heard of that Castrol service station that does a good polish job, im not sure of the location though..

Thats a really important topic.. We always get a share of scratches from other doors, trolleys, etc... Another thing, is where can we get touch up paint for scratches???

You can get this on the larger service stations like Grand Lube (near defence roundabout or new one next to Lulu behind Mall of Emirates).

They charge around 400-500 AED and keep it overnight.

The dealers also offer this. Atleast Al-Futtaim does this for Toyotas.

Thanks root

I went to the one behind MOE (next to Lulu supermarket) and ur price range is spot on. It takes 4 hrs for them to complete the job.

I'm thinking of getting it done after 2 weeks, will let u guys know how it was after it is done.

ive got a long deep scratch going across two doors, some @$$hole did it while car was parked in residential area. i doubt a polishing job will take away the deep ones, small light scratches will be less visible after polish and wax.

if anyone finds a good place please post here. remember to WAX the car after polishing with a good quality wax.

This sucks! How deep are the scratches? Are there any dents with it?

If there are dents then you need to get the body job done which is'nt that simple (or cheap).

If the scratches are deep enough the underlying paint-coats are gone as well, then that is harder to touch up. This you can normally see if you can see the metal below. Some polishing will improve it but will not totally take it out.

You can sometimes get paint touch-ups done but this depends on the colours you have. For most metallic paints, they have double-coating, making it hard to touch up properly without doing the entire unit.

Have you had the grand-lube guys look at the scratches ? They'll be able to tell you if it can be polished away or not.

For the person who asked me if I have done it yet - Nope, not yet, but will post here when I get it done. I'm waiting to shift my house, and when I do I will do the polish work and post a review here.

Also, it was made very clear to me that this polishing process will NOT remove deep scratches. Only light scratches will go. If you have a very deep and obvious scratch, it will require a paint job and that will be rather expensive.

Don't know about cheap jobs, but there is a workshop in Al-Quoz area in Dubai, actually quite close to Mall of Emirates, called Esquire.

They have pretty advanced paint shop.

To get there you get off SZR as for Mall of Emirates, but continue straight past Lulu Hypermarket towards Al-Khail Road. On the 2nd lights take a left and this is on the right hand side there.
