i've got aftermarket xenons on the mall/supermarket car. will this cause issues with renewal of registration when i take it to tasjeel?
they can see 2 wires going from the battery and the ballast mounted near the headlight when the hood is opened. i have aimed them low to not blind other drivers.
i can remove them and put it back on later but is time consuming as the bumper needs to come off.

Yes... aftermarket xenons r not passed by tasjeel anymore.. I assume since urs is properly installed so it doesnt blind ppl then u wont have problems... the main reason they wouldnt want 2 pass a car with aftermarket xenons is bcuz most arent adjusted properly..

just got the car passed, asked the guy there and he said aftermarket xenons = fail they DO NOT care whether its aimed low or high but if its in the headlight = fail though he did hint if you have it in your fog lights its ok. i just removed mine, will put them back on now

wierd...so if I get proper original xenons installed for a certain model, how would they know its not just something that came with the original car?
I understand, your wires going to the battery gives away that its after-market.

very simple, aftermarket xenons do not come with a projector headlamp setup thats why the beam will be all over the place (look at corollas and landcruisers with the xenon kits) factory xenon setups come with the proper projector headlamps (bmw, range rover etc) so the beam cut off will be a straight line and will not blind anyone.
and yes there will be more wires hanging around in your engine bay with an aftermarket setup as these kits are universal and come with really long wires.

Countless people I know never had a problem with aftermarket HID kits. Weird.

TNT, ask them if anyone of them got the registration renewed recently? (last 30-45days). one of those new stupid rules, which are sometimes implemented and sometimes not i guess *sigh*

Not in the last 30-45 days though. Maybe a new gay rule.

I've experienced this first hand - the installed ones have their beams all over the place - very annoying. Cayennes and Range Rovers have a bright beam but somehow doesn't blind other ppl. I think its a good move by the authorities regulate this

What about those rules that dont allow u 2 have brand related stickers on ur car? EX: if i had a 'RECARO' or 'SPARCO' or 'NISMO' they will ask me 2 remove it inorder 2 register the car?

if its quite big then i think you might have to remove it, but if not then it should be fine. p.s why would you need to have a nismo or sparco sticker? you do know that they do NOT really add the extra 50bhp

^ Just an example 4 God's sake... I had a sparco gear knob in my car once so i stuck a sparco sticker outside, acutally, to cover an ugly paint defect on my door...

I think the rule is to ban distracting stickers...things that cause traffic accidents. Or advertisements that people have not taken permission for (I guess RTA or someone makes money on giving out permissions).
However, it sounds very subjective!
