Well, according to the Road & Travel Magazine, it is this year, the Audi R8.
I could probably agree with that.

Here's the list for the past few years:

2008 Audi R8
2007 Jaguar XK/XKR
2006 Pontiac Solstice
2005 Chevrolet Corvette
2004 Cadillac XLR
2003 Nissan 350z
2002 Lexus SC430
2001 Chevrolet Corvette Z06
2000 Porsche Boxster S

TNT..your rides sex appeal is getting old now ;)

BTW...the Road&Travel guys do rank quite low on my scale of auto-journalism, but hey the stats are funny (and catchy).

Its not getting old, the 350Z was released in 2003 and it took the award the same year. Cars that are released during that year are eligible, so yeah, my ride is pretty sexy 8)
I don't know why the SC430 made the list :?

Despite its 4.2L V8, I am sorry but I think the R8 does not have any appeal whatsoever... in my books, the Z is definitely the car with the most sex appeal along with the Mustang GT. Unfortunately, I get to see an R8 every day as someone in my office building owns it and hardly ever drives the thing. It looks like a bunch of designers got together, scratched their heads and never reached an agreement as to the final physical output. The front looks like they left it midway while manufacturing it. Sorry but just not my cuppa... and I would call it an insult to the likes of a Gallardo or Corvette. Cheers.

That's kinda harsh....I see it as one of those more durable super-cars.
It does turn heads. It does have speed and power. The engine roar does bring that smile on your face. The interior could've been slightly better.

Even respectable (NOT) british tabloids also agree:

The only thing about the R8 that disappoints me is the performance. Or maybe my expectations were too high.
